Kathleen Millikan
Kathleen has over 29 years of health care experience. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing with honors in 1985 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, after which she practiced nursing until entering law school in 1988. As a nurse, she cared for patients in a variety of settings including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and ambulatory care facilities. She has cared for patients with severe head trauma and spinal cord injuries, and worked in critical care, post-surgical care, orthopedics, ENT, plastic surgery, ophthalmology and geriatrics. She also managed nursing units and was active in strategic planning for programs and facility development.
Kathleen has also practiced law for a number of years in small and large firms in North Carolina specializing in health related litigation including general liability and medical negligence defense, automobile torts, premises liability, insurance contract interpretation, workers compensation, estate administration and products liability.
Her undergraduate (BSN – ’85) and graduate degrees (JD – ’91) were completed at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
